Description
Experiment with different robot designs, as you learn what makes a robot work. Use your skills to build your very own working robot to take home to “live” with you. This camp requires a $30 per child supply fee. *For ages 7 (or entering 2nd grade) – 12.
Each day will have a theme. If you register for a morning and afternoon session, the activities will be different and follow the daily theme. Following are some topics you will explore during this fun five-day camp.
Ready for Robots:Enter the world of robots as you investigate the differences between humans and their robotic counterparts. Learn the science behind how robots move and change direction as you experiment with interconnecting gears.
Discover how sensors, processors and effectors combine to create a “red hot robot” that you can use at home. Explore the nuts and bolts of robots to learn the importance of balance and center of gravity.
Circuit Science:
Get charged up as you enter the world of circuits! Discover how electrons travel as you learn the difference between series and parallel circuits.
Experiment with insulators and conductors to learn how robots get their energy. Put your robotic skills to the test to see if you can create your own bug bot.
Common Sensors:
Challenge yourself to a game of sensory overload to see how your human sensors compare to robotic sensors. Play the Reggie Robot game to experience what it is like to program a robot without visual sensors.
Discover how robots use infrared and other sensors to learn about the surrounding environment. Demonstrate your sensory skill as you navigate your own circuit maze.
Robots 101:Roll your way into robot science. Experiment with different robot designs, as you learn about the applications of robotic technology. Let Issac Asimov be your guide to the laws of robotics. Become a robot engineer as you explore the difference between robots, automatons and remote-control devices.
Advanced Robotics: Welcome to the world of robotics! Learn to program robots via a sequence of commands. Discover if you have the end effector skills to complete a game of quick sticks!Get ready to explore the fundamentals of robotics and learn about robot anatomy. Use your imagination to design and build your own robot prototype.
